FAQ’S

Why choose laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a highly effective and reliable method for eliminating and reducing unwanted hair on the face and body. Unlike traditional methods, laser hair removal targets hair at the root, reducing growth permanently over time. It’s a safe and effective way to achieve smooth, hair-free skin without the hassle of shaving or waxing.

How does it work?

Laser hair removal is a well-established and highly effective method for reducing and removing unwanted hair. The laser uses light to target the pigment in hair follicles. The light turns into heat, which destroys the follicles preventing future hair growth from reoccurring.

How many sessions will I need and how often?

Typically, 6 to 10 sessions are needed for optimal results, with treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number of sessions can vary based on factors like hair type, skin tone, hormones and the treatment area. We will create a personalised plan to achieve the best outcome for you.

Does it hurt?

The treatment is generally painless and well-tolerated, with most clients describing the sensation as a mild discomfort similar to a snap of a rubber band against the skin. Our laser uses advanced cooling techniques to minimise pain, making the procedure as comfortable as possible.

Is it safe?

Yes, our laser device uses advanced technology that targets hair follicles without damaging the surrounding skin. It also has integrated cooling mechanisms to minimise discomfort and protect the skin, ensuring a safe and effective treatment for all skin types. Our trained professionals follow strict safety protocols and the equipment is certified and regularly maintained.

What is the minimum age for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is available for clients aged 18 and older.

Does the laser work on darker skin types?

Yes, laser hair removal can effectively work on darker skin types. Our laser is specifically designed to safely and effectively treat a variety of skin tones.

Does the laser work on lighter/red hair?

For all lighter hair types (white, blonde, red, or grey), the treatment tends to be less effective due to lower melanin levels. This results in less heat absorption, making it challenging to guarantee the destruction of the hair in the follicle.

Are there any side effects?

Yes, there can be side effects from laser hair removal, but they are usually mild and temporary. Common side effects include redness, swelling, and minor skin irritation in the treated area, which typically subside within a few hours to a couple of days. It is important to follow the correct prep and aftercare to receive maximum results with minimal side effects to the treatment.

Can I shave in between my sessions?

Yes, you can shave between your laser hair removal sessions. Shaving is recommended as the preferred method of hair removal during the course of your treatments. Avoid plucking, waxing, epilating etc.

How long do results last?

Laser hair removal offers long-lasting results by permanently reducing the hair by at least 80%, typically lasting for several months to years. The exact duration varies on individual factors like hair type, colour and growth cycle. Maintenance treatments may be needed annually to sustain the results, as new hair growth can occur over time (any hair that does grow back should be very sparse and fine).

Can I still have treatment when I am menstruating?

Yes, you can still have laser hair removal treatment while on your period. We advise you to wear a tampon or menstrual cup if you would like to have the Brazilian area treated for hygiene reasons.

Can I have laser hair removal if i am pregnant/breastfeeding.

Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the lack of research regarding the safety of the developing foetus or nursing infant. Hormonal changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding can also affect skin sensitivity and hair growth patterns, potentially reducing the effectiveness of the treatment and increasing the risk of side effects. We recommend that you wait to have treatment once your hormones are regulating normally again and that your periods are also back to normal.
